PALO ALTO, Calif. - Oct. 13, 2010 - Gridstore, the innovation leader in enterprise-class Network Attached Storage grid (NASg) solutions, today announced that its innovative next-generation scale-out NASg solution won a "Best in Show" award in the "Best SMB Solution" category at TMC's ITEXPO West 2010. The Expo was part of the MSPWorld Conference held in Los Angeles October 4-6.
The Gridstore NASg platform employs an innovative grid architecture to build a cost-effective file-based storage solution that enables SMBs and MSPs to create storage pools that centralize sharing and management of massive amounts of network attached storage (NAS) files. This architecture combines the simplicity, convenience and affordability of NAS with the scalability, performance and reliability of enterprise-class storage. The result is a cost-effective, high-performance solution that is both scalable and reliable.
'SMBs have traditionally invested in standalone NAS appliances to manage their file data. However, as their data requirements continue to escalate this model simply does not scale -leading to multiple NAS islands that are difficult and costly to manage,' said Kelly Murphy, CEO and co-founder, Gridstore. 'Our NASg solution eliminates storage sprawl and multiple single points of failure while providing a turnkey, enterprise-class storage offering, at half the cost of standalone NAS solutions.'
The cornerstone of Gridstore NASg is the Gridstore NASg Storage Node, an Intel/Microsoft-based storage node that features embedded Windows 7 Embedded, an Intel Atom core, 1GB of RAM, and up to 2TB of SATA hard disk drives. This node-based architecture provides customers with a number of benefits. Simply attaching a NASg storage node to the network expands capacity, scales performance linearly, and increases bandwidth. The modular, scalable architecture eliminates single points of failure, providing scalable redundancy and fault tolerance. Finally, the scalable architecture not only reduces IT management overhead and thus OPEX budgets but also, because it leverages commodity hardware, reduces CAPEX.
The ITEXPO Best of Show Awards are given to the most innovative products and services exhibited by the almost 200 participating exhibitors. The winners were chosen by TMC's editorial staff, which reviewed nominations before the show started and visited vendors' booths at ITEXPO West 2010 to evaluate their products.
