Review - Word Writer Pro for OS X

By

Word Writer Pro is an elegant and very affordable word processor for OS X which reads and writes both Microsoft Word and Open Office file formats.

Word Writer Pro, by DCBM Co. Pty Ltd, is available on the Apple App Store for Macintosh OS X.

Word Writer Pro is an impressively lightweight, but yet rich-featured, word processor. It does everything you want from a word processor - formatting, page layout, lists, templates, word counts - and the like, with some extra niceties. It includes regular-expression searching for more complex text investigation, automated saves and date-stamped backups for peace of mind, and split windows for document comparisons.

Word Writer Pro will work with file formats from Microsoft Word and Open Office. You can open and work with files from others, and you can save your documents in common and popular formats, without any fears or concerns about compatibility and collaboration. This is an important consideration; Word Write Pro allows you to focus on creating beautiful documents and in typing and processing words without being constrained by file format.

At a price of $9.99 Word Writer Pro is much more affordable than Microsoft Word. Although Open Office is freely available, Word Writer Pro stands out as being an elegant, functional and attractive native Mac OS X app. Further, as it is deployed through the Mac App Store your computer will keep it up-to-date as the author releases new versions. Indeed, even if you already own and use Microsoft Word or Open Office you will find Word Writer Pro launches swiftly and responds quickly to your actions, free from the bloat that can plague those other products.

Word Writer Pro provides an intuitive and focused user interface; it is a pleasure to work with and is an excellent product and well worth considering.
