uCiC, by Snapwise Inc., or rather, "uCiC - Answer Me This! Ask Anything and Receive Precise Visual Answer To Your Question" as it is fully titled, is a smart and appealing app for iOS users.
|
To use uCiC you launch the app, select a point of interest, view all the active users within a chosen radius and type in your request which is then pushed to their phones. The users then choose to respond to requests by taking a picture and responding. Those who respond gain "karma", the app's currency, which is used to purchase more requests thus stopping anyone from being a request hog without giving back to the uCiC community.
To illustrate, you may be in New York and wish to know if the Empire State building is open and not too crowded. You create a request, search for its address on the map, enter your message and ask the users nearby. You next sit back and wait for the responses to come in.
Or, perhaps you may want to see unfiltered world events in far-flung countries without media restrictions. Whatever your cause, uCiC can help.
The application respects your privacy; although it shows users in an area it does not divulge your identity except to those you nominate as friends. You can also opt to strip metadata from your photos indicating time and location.
In practice, I had some difficulty finding areas where other users were active but this is to be expected for an app that is still growing its community.
uCiC may be freely downloaded from the Apple App store.
