The fake iPhones are readily available in Asian markets. Called the ‘Super ultra-electronic thin riot’ it looks like an iPhone 4. The victim is shocked with allegedly 800kv via two contacts on the top of the phone.
This is the tip of the iceberg – stun guns have been built into handbags, Maglite style torches, and domestic items like side table lamps. All these ‘self-defence electrical’ products are illegal to own and use in Australia.
The man could face a maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine of AU$425,000 (US$394,000), the customs agency said.
