The Technology Business Management (TBM) Council has formed an APAC chapter and appointed a regional advisory board loaded with executives from big-name Australian organisations.

TBM is a value management framework used by CIOs, CTOs, CFOs and their teams to translate technology investments to business value, drive organisational alignment and accelerate data-driven decision-making, and the TBM Council is a not-for-profit organisation that promotes TBM standards and practices to empower collaboration between IT leaders and business partners.

The APAC regional advisory board is co-chaired by Craig Wishart, CIO at KPMG Australia and head of KPMG ASPAC technology services group, and Gerard Florian, group executive, technology at ANZ.

"The purpose of the TBM Council APAC will be to develop communities for collaboration, education and standards development," said Wishart.

"The priority is to establish a strategy community for TBM adoption. We will then turn our focus to vertical communities, and we will offer certification courses to senior IT leaders and finance managers to arm them with essential knowledge to drive business transformation within IT by running a successful TBM program."

Ben Allard, vice president APAC at Apptio and APAC regional vice president of the TBM Council pointed out that technology spending across APAC is tipped to exceed US$1 trillion by 2024, but planning is to deliver the intended outcomes of those investments.

"The APAC chapter of the TBM Council provides a forum and framework to help organisations avoid the operational disruption, cost overrun and project delays that have become prevalent alongside increasing technology spend in this part of the world."

The remaining members of the APAC regional advisory board are:

Catherine Ho, CFO, CenITex
Warren Clarke, director of finance, eHealth NSW
Trevor Nichols, CFO of technology, Macquarie Group
Suzanne Aitken, general manager ICT strategy and implementation, Services Australia
Vinit Singh Chauhan, head of technology business management and strategic projects, Standard Chartered Singapore
Siddharth Jolapara, head of finance - group technology, Woolworths Group
Richard Spalding, general manager of program delivery, Commonwealth Bank of Australia

The TBM Council has more than 10,000 members around North America, APJ, and Europe. The organisations has specialist groups for cloud, agile, CFOs for IT, insurance, manufacturing, government, and healthcare.

Its annual conference is being held virtually from11 to 13 October 2021, with a live APAC Connect Day session on 13 October. For more information and to register, visit the TBM Conference 2021 website.

In addition, a TBM executive primer seminar is scheduled for 8 December 2021.
