Cyber security and compliance company Proofpoint has appointed Alex Lei as its new regional leader for Asia-Pacific and Japan.

"Alex's proven track record within technology and cybersecurity will help us deliver on our people-centric security vision in the region, against exceptional demand for our services," said Proofpoint chief revenue officer Blake Sallé.

Lei joins Proofpoint from Dell EMC, where he was vice president of data protection solutions.

During his more than 20 years in the IT and cybersecurity industries, he also held senior regional leadership positions at FireEye, Actifio, and Symantec.

Earlier in his career, Lei worked in technical positions at MCI and Genentech.

"Proofpoint is the trusted cybersecurity partner to some of the world's most respected companies and we have an exceptional opportunity to gain traction across APJ", said Lei.

"I am excited to join the team and look forward to bringing award-winning solutions to market, to help regional organisations navigate a complex and ever-evolving cyber threat landscape to better protect their business and their customers."
