iPhone gamepad leaked

By

Last week saw both Apple news from WWDC and gaming news from E3, but the latest news this week combines both, with a photo of a Logitech gaming pad for iPhone leaked.

The photo, acquired by gaming news website Kotaku, follows a tradition that all leaked device photos must be blurry, with the photo seemingly taken using something considerably worse than an iPhone 5.

The photo shows a dedicated gamepad compatible with iPhone 5, a four-button Logitech gamepad built around an iPhone shaped hole, also featuring Logitech's 'G' branding.

The gamepad also seems to have a Lightning connector on the right side, suggesting the peripheral will be hard-wired.

Kotaku hypothesized will be just one of several third-party gamepads designed for iOS 7's Game Center overhaul, and that Apple won't be providing a first-party solution itself.

The leak follows a trend that gaming is becoming less about traditional 'blockbuster' consoles and more about mobile, on-the-go titles, with Apple's App Store recently surpassing 50 billion apps downloaded.
