Last week it announced the Ascend P6 – the world’s (currently) thinnest smartphone at 6.18mm and now joined by a 7” phablet (phone and tablet).
It uses: a Huawei made quad core, ARM A9, 1.2GHz processor; a 16 core graphics processing unit; 1GB ram and 8GB storage; a microSD slot; .3MP front and 3MP rear camera; and a 7” 1024x768, 720p, IPS touch screen. It weighs 335g.
Huawei has fitted a high gain antenna that should improve 3G reception. It will have all the usual Google apps, GPS navigation, and sensors.

Opinion
The 7” phablet market is heating up – Asus fonepad, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, Sony’s new 6.4” Xperia and many, many more to come.
Huawei, not well established in Australia and traditionally sells via the telcos and major retailers as a pre-paid device. These specifications are not outstanding in any way – it will be one of many choices so we hope it has a correspondingly attractive price. Initial price indication of around $600 is high compared to an expected $350 for the Asus. Availability – September.
