For many years Apple has been ahead of the curve when it comes to new computing technologies. It was the first to adopt the mini floppy disk, and the first to abandon it. It led in the incorporation of WiFi and Firewire and, in the MacBook Air the use of flash storage instead of spinning drives for internal storage. Yet on near field communications (NFC) it is now well behind the curve.

The St George Banking Group has unveiled its latest innovations in mobile banking services with the launch of new features to its mobile banking app and online banking services which it says now allows customers to open a savings or transaction account via their smartphone in just 60 seconds and start using the account immediately.

OnAir has gained authorisation to allow travellers on Emirates Airlines A380 to Facebook as much as they like whilst within Australian airspace. The expanded service arrives in time for Emirates new A380 service operating out of Melbourne to Auckland and Dubai which begins on 2 October.

Australia might have emerged at the top of the global pile when it comes to mobile application testing – but it’s faint praise, because still only two out of five local organisations perform any testing on their mobile applications before unleashing them on unwary consumers or employees.

The Australian Government has released the standalone Guidelines for the Classification of Computer Games which now includes the long awaited R18+ Classification.

Apple wasted no time in announcing the iPhone 5’s availability in Australia, As the Apple corporate website was taken down during the press conference so that the iPhone 5 could be included.
