As reported by iTWire two weeks ago, in response to the impact of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, National Broadband Network (nbn) provided Cyclone Relief Funding for nbn Retail Service Providers (RSPs), with a total of up to $7 million in funding to made available for those whose nbn services were impacted by the severe weather.
“We’ve been working closely with the NBN to ensure this relief is passed on to our broadband customers without delay. Starting from today, March 20, impacted customers will automatically receive a credit so they can stay connected and focus on recovery,” said TPG spokesperson Anthony Giannopoulos, commenting that:
- We know recovery after ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred isn’t easy, and TPG Telecom is committed to helping communities stay connected. We will be applying a $50 credit for customers in affected postcodes across QLD and NSW who experienced an NBN outage due to the cyclone.
- There is nothing customers need to do. The credit will be applied automatically and customers will see this credit on their next bill.
- We know some customers may need extra support. Our Financial Hardship team is available to provide specialised assistance such as a free internet connection to alternative accommodation, a free replacement modem and more.
TPG says the $50 credit will be applied for affected NBN customers across all TPG Telecom brands including TPG, Vodafone, iiNet and Internode - and “additional information including eligibility criteria and eligible postcodes will soon be made available on our website eligible postcodes will soon be made available on our website”.
