End-user spending will decline for the first time despite a rise in global device shipments, according to a new report. The worrying new trend is a reflection of changing market conditions in various geographic regions.
Australia and New Zealand standout in a positive light as worldwide IT spending is forecast to total $3.54 trillion dollars in 2016, just a 0.6% increase over spending of $3.52 trillion dollars in 2015.
Consumers are looking to hold onto their devices like PCs, tablets, ultramobiles and mobile phones for longer and not replace them so frequently, according to research which shows the trend is having a negative impact on the shipment and sale of devices globally, with the exception of smartphones.
A major analyst firm says worldwide device shipments to grow 1.5%, reaching 2.5 billion units in 2015, down from a forecast 2.8% growth, with sales down since 2010.
