Japanese telecommunications company NTT has developed a digital coherent signal processing circuit and optical device that can achieve a capacity of 1.2Tbit/s per wavelength for optical transmission, which is 1.5 times faster than before.

NeoPhotonics Corporation, a developer of silicon photonics and advanced hybrid photonic integrated circuit-based lasers, modules and subsystems for bandwidth-intensive, high speed communications networks, announced that it has used its indium phosphide based coherent receiver and coherent modulators, coupled with its ultra-narrow linewidth tunable lasers or distributed feedback lasers to demonstrate 120Gbaud operation in applications ranging from 800G LR transmission to 400G long haul transmission.
