Chinese telecommunications equipment vendor Huawei Technologies has reported revenue of 858.8 billion Chinese yuan (US$121 billion) for the full-year 2019, a rise of 19.1% year-on-year, with profit of 62.7 billion Chinese yuan (US$8.8 billion). This was its lowest annual profit growth in three years, announced as the company warned that China would hit back against US measures that have got in the way of its progress.
Australia is not going to back down on its decision to ban Chinese telecommunications equipment vendor Huawei Technologies from participating in the rollout of 5G networks – not until the US does so itself and gives Australia permission to do a backflip.
Chinese telecommunications companies Huawei and ZTE will not receive any subsidies from the Universal Service Fund that the US uses to subsidise equipment bought by rural and small carriers, and Huwaei is reportedly cutting back US sales efforts as a result.
