Motorola is investing $15 million in a new telecom software development center in Hyderabad in south India as of part of its efforts to expand operations and counter the dominance of its rival Nokia in the country.

India has become the second largest  investor in Britain in the past six months, moving up from being the third largest in  2005-06, after the US and Japan, said Sir Michael Arthur, British High Commissioner to India.

Wipro Infotech, part the Wipro conglomerate, has bought two Singapore-based companies, 3D Networks and Planet PSG, in a $23 million all-cash deal.
