NEC’s Akagi moves to APAC top job

NEC’s former Australian managing director Tetsuro Akagi has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the APAC region.

Akagi, who is also appointed as Senior Vice President of NEC Corporation, is responsible for the business operations and expansion of the Asia Pacific region to further deliver NEC’s growth plans.

He was NEC Australia's Managing Director since January 2014, and the company says he was responsible for evolving the company into one of the country's leading ICT solutions and services business.

Akagi has held various senior positions in sales, financial, operational and business management roles in both Japan and other countries since he joined NEC over 30 years ago, including in the United States, Hong Kong, China and Australia.

Commenting on his new role, Akagi said, "I am deeply honoured to be appointed to this new position. The Asia Pacific region represents a strong future for NEC and I hope to continue to work closely with our NEC country affiliates in the region, strengthen relationships with existing customers while expanding our businesses, and position NEC as one of the leading innovative technology and solutions companies in the region."

Akagi succeeds Toshiya Matsuki who has led NEC Asia Pacific's businesses in the region since April 2013. Effective as of 1 April, Matsuki has been appointed to Executive Vice President of NEC Corporation and President of NEC Global Business Unit.
