The Pope gets online

By
The new "Pope to You" website gives visitors a chance to hear from the pontiff directly and connect with him on social networks.

The new site , aka pope2you.net and P2Y, represents the Vatican's attempt to "bring the Gospel to the Internet," as an embedded video announces.

Visitors can download the H2Onews iPhone app to receive video and audio news from the Vatican wherever they are.

They can also follow a link to the Church's page on YouTube or become a fan of the Pope on Facebook.

The Facebook application enables users to send their friends postcards of the Pope in action and "spread friendship with the Pope."

The Pope welcomes visitors to his new website.

The site even provides a link to a WikiCath page, where visitors can read messages from the pontiff as well as interpretations of the messages' relevance for the digital generation.

The site seems a bit unclear on the wiki concept, though: the Comment button just provides a chance to e-mail feedback. It was probably a wise decision not to allow true wiki-style editing.
