Synology BeeDrive backup system now supports macOS

By

Storage, network, and security vendor Synology has now announced its portable backup product, BeeDrive, now supports macOS.

The Synology BeeDrive is super simple to use, and comes as a tiny, USB-powered package. You merely plug it into your computer, select the files, folders, and photos you wish to backup, and let BeeDrive do the rest, both on-demand or on schedule. You can view the backups on any computer without special software requirements, and what's more, you can share the files from your smartphone too.

The BeeDrive has a fast 10GBps USB-C connection, is drop-proof for up to two metres, contains an SSD, and is a great backup solution for experts and non-experts alike. It's the ideal backup product for those working with large media, those with a range of devices, and even to gift to your elderly parents and relatives to give peace of mind to everybody that they have backups with no fuss and no subscription fees.

iTWire previously looked at the BeeDrive when it was first released, and it's still as easy to use and unrivalled now as it was then. However, now it also supports macOS as well as Windows and Android.

Check out the video below to see how to use BeeDrive on your Mac; the steps are

  1. plug the BeeDrive into your Mac
  2. install the BeeDrive smartphone app
  3. depending on your processor type, you need to enable "allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers" on your macOS boot disk
  4. under system settings, allow system software from Synology Inc. to load
  5. enable full disk access for Synology BeeDrive

That's it! Once done you can effortlessly back up your files and photos from your Mac with ease, and ensure you have protection from disaster or accident.

The Synology BeeDrive is available in 1TB and 2TB models.

iTWire has always been impressed with the excellent Synology operating systems on its NAS products (DSM - DiskStation Manager) and on its routers (SRM - Synology Router Manager), and the same thought and care has gone into crafting a wonderful experience in the BeeDrive that makes secure backups a no-brainer for everyone.
