Roborock launched its new, flagship robot vacuum - along with other high-tech cleaning devices - at an event in Cairns.

Roborock has sold 15 million robot vacuums across 170 different countries which makes it one of the most popular robovac brands in the world... but not Australia... yet. At the launch event, a new flagship model, the S8 MaxV Ultra was launched alongside some lower-end models and new vacuum/mop combo devices.

The new, upgraded models have upgraded cleaning technology, can get into tighter spots and can interact with pets at home. Features of the S8 MaxV Ultra flagship include:

- A new ‘FlexiArm’ Side Brush which provides 100 per cent corner coverage.

- An ‘Extra Edge Mopping System’ which spins at 185rpm and facilitates edge cleaning ‘1.65mm’ away from walls.

- It offers a ‘market-leading’ 10,000 Pascal suction power which works in conjunction with two ‘DuoRoller Riser Brushes’ which spin in different directions to each other.

- The ‘VibraRise 3.0 Mopping System’ has two vibration modules and can move at 4,000 times per minute to mimic a person scrubbing a surface. It lifts-up by 20mm high when not needed (like when moving on to carpet).

- It’s ‘DirTect’ system is able to recognise spills and stains in front of it. For stains, it can boost its mopping mode to maximum in order to ‘disintegrate dirt.’

- The new ‘RoboDock Ultra’ automatically empties the bin, empties the water, washes the mop and dries it.

- New ‘Reactive AI 2.0 Obstacle Recognition’ technology can recognise over 70 different objects including shoes, socks, cats and dogs.

- New ‘PreciSense LiDAR Navigation’ maps your home and means it always knows where it’s at. This helps customise cleaning locations from within its app.

- The App has ‘Roborock SmartPlan Technology’ which automatically figures out how to clean whatever surface it’s on. It can also be set to clean one-off spills in areas without covering its entire space.

-  A new ‘Video Call & Cruise’ feature lets you dial in and have a two-way video conversation with someone at home or your pet. Other pet-friendly features include that ability to recognise cats and dogs and it can hunt them down and send pictures to you.

- A ‘Hello Rocky’ voice assistant lets you perform basic voice commands – like start, stop, clean a specific room or return home.

- It’s compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri and is the ‘first robovac to be Matter certified.’

- To help prevent intrusions and privacy invasions, it’s TUV Rheinland certified for security.

The S8 MaxV Ultra is out now and available in major retailers for $2,999.

Other products were also announced and we’ll be updating this article in due course.
