A survey by Emergence via Centiment found that there are 65 percent of deskless workers not equipped with additional technology to complete their jobs and this effects their job satisfaction.
Deskless workers, who make up 80 percent of the global workforce, are seeking better communication tools to help improve their productivity and processes, particularly associated with onboarding, training and furthering career development.
According to Rob Bright, Managing Director at Cloud Assess, being without a desk should not be an obstacle when it comes to training and development opportunities but unfortunately many deskless workers are getting left behind due to using paper and pen methods or outdated systems instead of going digital.
"The vast majority of our clients at Cloud Assess have a portion of their staff or clients that are considered deskless workers and all of them came to us to find a solution to the massive strain on time and resources that they were facing without the technology in place to help them address the gap,” said Mr Bright.
Many of the companies Cloud Assess work with across Australia, including McDonalds, need to have training and assessment completed on an ongoing basis across multiple locations.
“As we enter 2022 with a focus on supporting our workforce to adapt to the ever-changing skills requirements, now is the time for companies to jump on board and provide technology to assist with up-skilling and workplace development,” said Mr Bright.
Cloud Assess have coined the term ‘Learner Experience’ (LX), which is the digital training version of ‘User Experience’ (UX).
“We offer more than just the technology and digital tools to facilitate on the job learning and assessment, but we consider the whole learner experience – including how they access the app on their smart phones, user-friendly functionalities, offline availability and plenty of communication tools.”
The deskless workforce, including those employed in manufacturing plants, refineries, airports, hospitals and more, have skills, certifications or qualifications that are crucial to the job, so there is a greater need for effective training, continued development, and retention.
The companies that are taking advantage of opportunities to better engage with their employees regardless of their physical location, help improve overall job satisfaction.
According to another report by SafetyCulture, frontline workers seek the ability to learn on the job, and rate job training highly when it comes to job satisfaction.
Creating a workplace environment conducive to self-learning, continuous improvement, and adaptation is part of the cultural shift and bridging the technology gap.
“We offer the ultimate in accessibility and allow companies to get going quickly by digitising their existing tools, presenting their learning objects with our SCORM engine or via html and delivering learning anywhere and at any time within a truly mobile and paperless solution,” said Mr Bright.
Cloud Assess offers digital solutions for training and assessing that is truly mobile, flexible and creates exceptional learner experiences for every type of industry.
