Review - TurtleDuck for iOS

By

TurtleDuck is a quirky mobile arcade game where you control the eponymous character, a kind of cute hybrid of, well, a turtle and a duck.

With an opening scene remniscent of Angry Birds, TurtleDuck finds an evil monster has stolen his sibling eggs. Your quest is to recover these eggs across 36 levels.

The level design features interesting puzzles and replayability as you work to get the maximum score for each level. The levels are in the side-scrolling platform genre but for best results you will need to traverse back and forth - even up and down - across the levels.

The game has quite some humour. Your TurtleDuck - itself an entertaining concept - can not only jump to get around the level, but he can also shoot - by tossing his little brother whose hard shell causes damage, before boomeranging back into TurtleDuck's back pocket! The bad guy of the game is none other than the evil SlimeToad who is both slimey and toad-like as he sets out to prevent TurtleDuck from reaching success. Your score is also calculated in part by how many pieces of toast TurtleDuck can find and consume on his journey. It is all rather zany fun.

With a bevy of collectible items, puzzles, levels and humorous traits, TurtleDuck can be a pleasant and fun game for people of all ages.

The game is available through the iOS app store.
