MVNO Price Wars Episode V: Kogan Mobile’s Empire Strikes Back

By

Promising “huge discounts” across 90- and 365-day plans, and prices on prepaid mobile plans slashed up to 40% for a limited time, Kogan Mobile is scoring a huge victory for rebellious pre-paid customers.

It is a dark time for major phone companies. The MVNO revolution has seen prices for calls and data fall ever further, but e-tail king Kogan, obsessed with better prices, has dispatched a new offer to the far reaches of cyberspace....

We’ve seen Vodafone bring 35 day pre-paid plans to the market

Then came Vaya with some striking back of its own, offering 30% off most of its 12-month plans.

This, in turn, saw Vaya’s owner, Amaysim, coming up with a special 60% off deal of its own for new Amaysim customers seeking solace in the value-end of the market.

Now comes the return fire of Kogan Mobile, proudly boasting of “new deals that smash prepaid mobile prices, with up to 40% off already great value plans".

The company says it has “removed any need for Aussies to worry about their mobile spending, with huge discounts — ranging from 20% to 40% — across all 90-day and 365-day prepaid options.”

Unlike Amaysim’s offer, which was for new customers only, Kogan Mobile says its discounts “are available to new and existing customers, meaning mobile users around Australia can enjoy the benefits of unlimited standard national calls and texts and a huge data offering at market-shattering prices".

Looming large like a Death Star ready to obliterate traditional high-priced calling plans from the usual suspects, Kogan Mobile says its “extra large 365-day plan, which offers unlimited standard national calls and texts and 14GB of data each 30 days, is now only $25.90 per month, dropping a whopping 40%".

Still, if you want something smaller than a small moon, Kogan Mobile says “users looking for something slightly smaller, the LARGE 365 day plan is only $20.90 per month, reduced by 35%, which offers unlimited standard national calls and texts and 10GB of data".

And, proving that the Kogan Mobile battle station has always been fully operational, we’re told that “all other 90- and 365-day plans have also been reduced, meaning there is a plan available to suit any kind of mobile user".

Ruslan Kogan, founder and chiefe xecutive of Kogan.com, and presumed aspiring JediPhone Knight, (even though Kogan also offers the dark side of smartphones, being Kogan-branded Androids). noted that it had never been easier to make the switch to a new, more cost efficient carrier.

Kogan said: “Our aim with Kogan Mobile has always been to offer the best deals possible, to reduce the cost of connecting to the world, and today’s announcement is proof that we’re doing just that.

“It’s now easier than ever to switch mobile providers, keep your existing phone number and stop having to worry about bill-shock.”

If you want to take a sightseeing trip to Cloud City before you decide to take up the deal, or traipse over to Tatooine, you’ve certainly got time, with Kogan Mobile stating “the offers will be available to both new and existing Kogan Mobile customers and will end on 31 July".

Still, if you feel the force is strong in these deals, you may wish to strike your old phone plan down and have a phone plan more powerfully cheaper than you can possibly imagine, with Visual Voicemail if you're an iPhone user.
