Hearthstone releases 38 new cards in the Showdown in the Badlands mini-set, this Friday

By

The exploration goes even deeper, with all-new cards released for the free-to-play collectible card game Hearthstone this Friday 19 January 2024, in the Showdown in the Badlands mini-set, Delve Into Deepholm.

The Bloodrock mining operation has reached deep below the surface—so deep that they’ve hit Deepholm, an underground labyrinth where powerful elemental creatures dwell. Elise Starseeker and the Outlaws continue their pursuit and find some great new allies, one of which is Deepminer Brann. Dig your way around 38 new cards, including new dual-class cards, two new neutral Legendary minions, and all new Excavate cards.

New dual class and excavate rewards

The new mini-set gives twice the value from your cards with a handful of new dual-class cards, including both minions and spells. Each class gets four dual-class cards, two of which are shared with two other classes, and this additional functionality will come in handy for any type of deck you want to build.

Also, the Paladin and Shaman classes get new Excavate rewards - as you play Excavate cards you can dig deep for new powerful buffs and spells. Excavate is a new keyword that came with Showdown in the Badlands, that lets you dig up a treasure when the card is played.

Neutral legendary cards

Two new neutral Legendary minions join the action in Bloodrock, one of which will be Therazane the Stonemother, who fights fiercely to protect her domain and even when fallen in combat, provides a buff to all Elementals in your hand and deck.

February Twist season

The February season of Twist mode, starting 2 Feb 2024 here in Australia adds a challenge by limiting your deck building to common cards only (includes all expansions through Year of the Dragon and Core cards). Discover new ways to stump your opponents without the power of rare, epic, and legendary cards!

Lunar New Year event

The Lunar New Year Event will be returning! Complete daily quests to earn a variety of rewards including two hero skins and three Signature cards!

It's all happening in Hearthstone, coming over the next weeks. As always, Hearthstone is free-to-play, with new cards obtainable through completing the weekly Tavern Brawl and through in-game gold achieved by moving through the rewards track. Real money can be used to buy non-game-changing cosmetics, as well as to accelerate your card collection by buying packs. The Showdown in the Badlands mini-set will be purchasable both by real money and through in-game gold.

What are you looking forward to in Hearthstone's new mini-set and events? As always, explore the cards in Blizzard's card library and experiment with your deckbuilding here. Here's the deck I've been enjoying success with lately, a Rogue full of magnetic minions that ramp up power rapidly and some awesome beasts to do huge damage.
