The SK hynix T31 is an SSD in a USB stick giving you fast, portable gaming anywhere

By

SK hynix has released an SSD - in a USB stick. Yes, it's literally a blazing fast SSD in a fast, modern USB 3.2 stick format.

If you wanted the fastest possible portable USB stick you could get, then this is it. It's available in USB-A format which does mean you can't use it right out of the box with a MacBook or Surface tablet or other modern USB-C devices, but that's not the target market. Sure, you can get a USB-A to USB-C adapter and it will work. And it will be great. But SK hynix has game consoles in mind for this device.

The Tube T31 almost sounds like a Terminator but it's actually a quite nifty portable high-speed SSD that makes it easy to play, save, and transport games anywhere.

In fact, gamers around the world can play games directly from the Tube T31 and are no longer limited to their PC or console's internal storage. This makes it a dead simple way to expand your storage without having to open the console's cover, and what's more, to take those games with you from console to console, place to place.

The Tube T31 has an impressive transfer rate of 10Gbps with sequential read and write speeds of up to 1,000MB/s. It's seriously one of the fastest external USB stick drives on the market, and whether you are a gamer or not, there's definitely a lot of value to be had.

iTWire has been checking out the Tube T31 1TB model and it's beyond a dream having such a tiny little pocket-sized unit with cavernous space and blistering performance.

The standard USB-A 3.2 Gen2 connector is compatible with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Mac, albeit you may need a USB-A to USB-C adapter for some computers.

It also comes with a three-year warranty. Check it out on Amazon here.
