Photos leak of Nokia's Android phone, Normandy Featured

By

It's only a few short weeks until Microsoft fully acquires Nokia and more images have emerged of Normandy, the cheap Android phone that may never see the light of day.

A few leaks have surfaced recently pointing to an Android device made by Nokia, with the codename Normandy, and the latest leak today shows a 'real life' photo of the smartphone.

Previous leaks included the user interface and the phone itself, and Vizileaks posted a new photo today with the caption 'and the waiting game begins'.

Nokia made a decision to exclusively back Windows Phone a few years ago, making an Android phone seem highly unlikely. A tweet from @evleaks however suggested that the death of Nokia’s Android efforts had been “greatly exaggerated”.

It still remains to be seen if Nokia might release its first and last Android device ahead of the acquisition, much like they did with the Nokia N9, the Finnish company’s first and last MeeGo before they made the transition to Windows Phone.:

Any Android phone may well have meant market success for Nokia, which has struggled to steal momentum away from Apple and Samsung over the past three years or so.
