Dozens of Australian military veterans will soon be kick-starting new careers in technology as part of an exclusive program set up by Accenture and WithYouWithMe.
The new program will see former serving Australian military personnel enter into new ‘Tech Traineeships’ which will be fully funded by WithYouWithMe and enable the veterans to learn in-demand tech skills before deploying into new exclusive roles for WithYouWithMe working with Accenture.
The Tech Traineeships cover some of the most in-demand jobs in the market, including Pega Systems Architects, Salesforce Developers and Administrators, AWS Cloud Practitioners and Mulesoft Developers. Candidates do not require any experience or technical background – just the aptitude and match for a new tech career.
WithYouWithMe, an Australian tech start-up helping veterans find new careers, is working with Accenture to make new tech careers for veterans a reality. WithYouWithMe, which has helped more than 20,000 veterans find their next career globally, will be using its proprietary career matching assessments to identify the best candidates with an aptitude for a new tech career. Currently, there are more than 75 open Traineeship roles available across Australia, with more than 50 in Adelaide alone.
WithYouWithMe’s career assessment data shows that more than 67 per cent of veterans have the right aptitude and attitude to transition to a career in Software Development, however, the pathway is often not clear or accessible. The Tech Traineeship is changing that.
WithYouWithMe Chief Customer Success Officer Tom Larter said: “This program is going to provide an avenue for Aussie veterans to start a whole new career journey. Veterans have great skills from their time in the military, and one which is often overlooked is their ability to learn new skills quickly.
“The Tech Traineeship program will help address the national skills shortage in some of these in-demand roles”.
“I want to thank Accenture for their support of the program and backing veterans without experience, but with potential,” Larter said.
Matt Gollings who leads Accenture’s defence practice globally said: “Australian industry needs to continue to ‘lean in’ to support veteran employment – for Accenture, hiring veterans in a variety of roles makes great business sense. Our partnership with WithYouWithMe provides an innovative and practical way to re-skill and place veterans into high-demand roles – we are confident that the veterans we bring on through WithYouWithMe will add to the diversity and capabilities of our workforce. We look forward to continuing this, and other programs, in support of Australian veterans,”

Pablo Quintana was one of the first veterans who joined the Tech Traineeship, completing certification as a Pega Architect after transitioning from the military.
“Since leaving the Royal Australian Navy, I found it difficult to adapt as none of my skills felt transferable. I went from being a cook in a cafe to a janitor and was even considering working in a fast-food service.
“That changed though when I found WithYouWithMe and heard about their Tech Traineeships. I’m now working as a Pega low-code developer and loving it,” Quintana said.
