Intellectual property commercialisation company QPSX Ltd (ASX:QPX) announced that Oracle Corporation has been named as the defendant in a US lawsuit filed today which claims infringement of two enterprise database management (EDM) patents. EDM technologies encompass mission critical online transaction processing databases and datawarehousing implementations. The lawsuit has been filed by US patent litigation firm McKool Smith.The period of coverage of the two EDM patents runs through to 2014, and the lawsuit addresses sales by Oracle since October 1998.

Alphawest wins WA Govt edocs contract

IT Services business Alphawest Services Pty Limited, a subsidiary of Alphawest Limited (ASX: ALW) has won a tender to provide electronic document and records management systems (EDMS) for the WA Government. The contract involves the provision of business systems software and support for finance and payroll processing for 130 State Government agencies.

Baptist Community Services (BCS) NSW & ACT, one of Australia¹s largest providers of community and aged care services, has installed 35 SNAP appliance storage devices across its network of remote sites. The new secure storage devices, installed by IP storage distributor Lan 1, replaced ageing NT servers that had become increasingly unreliable and costly to manage, according to Don McCall, infrastructure manager leader at BCS, which has 43 sites and employs 3,000 staff.

ImageAccording to Rick Marmur, the CEO of the Australian office of Indian offshore ICT outsourcing giant Tata Consultancy Services, a plethora of local jobs will be up for grabs at the company over the next 12 months.

Tele-IP (ASX:TEE) has announced that a recent international meeting of microwave experts has given increased credibility to the company's intellectual property and capability in the area of fixed microwave link optimisation.

Like many small equities in the past, MBOX (ASX:MBX) can't seem to make up its mind whether it wants to be a technology or resources company. The unified messaging services provider has signed heads of agreements to buy out another unified messaging company, VPL, which has an international client base, and Novacoat, a supplier of anti-corrosion treatment services to the resources industry. Both of the companies are profitable and will be paid for by shares and cash totalling $9.7 million.

ERG to sell and lease back Perth HQ

Transport fair collection software and hardware manufacturer, ERG (ASX:ERG) has put its Perth headquarters building on the market for sale subject to a 10 year lease back at $1.3 million per year. The ASX demanded and received a public statement from ERG on the proposed sale after the story appeared today in the West Australian newspaper. ERG said it wants to dispose of non-core assets.

Web developer and content management integrator Indigo Pacific has won a large contract to redevelop the websites of wine producer Southcorp Limited (ASX:SRP), using content management technology from US vendor RedDot Solutions.
