Roche mySugr diabetes app recalled

The mySugr Bolus Calculator from Roche Diabetes has been recalled due to a serious bug.

mySugr Bolus Calculator is intended to help users determine the insulin dose they require. It is available for iOS and Android.

But a bug means it can recommend an incorrect amount in certain circumstances.

Administering an incorrect dose of insulin can lead to serious health complications, the recall notice warns.

Users should update the app to version 3.74.1.

Postscript: mySugr points out that the the ACCC's 9 April 2021 recall notice did not mention that the incident actually occurred in October 2020, that affected versions of the iOS app were disabled, and that the bug was fixed within a few days. "Potentially impacted users had been informed accordingly and were asked to update the mySugr app to version 3.74.1 in order to reactivate the mySugr Bolus Calculator," said mySugr global communications manager Sarah-Maria Richter. "Users can use the mySugr Bolus Calculator in the known quality."
