Twelve South makes the case for its MacBook SuitCase

By

Twelve South is a company whose North Star is quality, creativity and really cool innovation. I've been a paying customer for years, and the only time they've gone south is when they launched their Australian office!

Down under. It's in planet Earth's Southern Hemisphere, and it's one of the few times that the term "going south" can be seen as an absolutely brilliant move.

Although Twelve South's products have been in Australia for years via distributors, and ships to over 100 countries, the company opened its first online store outside of its headquarters earlier this year, and chose Australia as its destination.

The company has wildly loyal fans, with the company's own description explaining why. It says "We're committed to beautifully crafted innovation. Twelve South creates beautiful accessories designed exclusively for Apple. From one-of-a-kind cases like BookBook to the desktop space-saver BookArc, our innovative products enhance, protect, and personalise the experience of using your favourite Apple gear".

It's absolutely true, too, with plenty more great info on the company itself at its About Us page

I have purchased several versions of the BookBook, a special case that almost looks like a Harry Potter book of magic - or a very elegant, old book - for various MacBooks that I have owned.

Currently I have the super luxe Journal version of the BookBook, not that this one is officially called a BookBook, and it is a luxury leather case with a secret "document storage" compartment for holding papers, and people never fail to notice this fine MacBook "case"!

Now comes the latest innovation from Twelve South called "SuitCase for MacBook".

It is "a handsome hardshell case shrouded in a premium textile quilted pattern", and beyond elegant looks, we're told it is "a thermoform, water-resistant case that securely protects your MacBook".

The marketing blurb continues, stating that "When your MacBook is all you need for a meeting, presentation or a few hours at your favourite co-working space, SuitCase is the ultimate shuttle".

It offers "an innovative suspension system lets you work on your MacBook while it sits safely inside the case", and with its "slim design and recessing leather handle, it’s no problem slipping SuitCase into your work bag or backpack".

Here's what Twelve South says "makes SuitCase the ultimate shuttle":

  • Minimalist hardshell case for carrying MacBook
  • Premium textile exterior with quilted signature diamond pattern
  • Work comfortably with MacBook resting in the case
  • Dual zippers, leather handle and elastic hinges

So, what are the protective features?

We're told that "SuitCase provides three layers of protection for your MacBook. You have a water-resistant quilted fabric exterior. Beneath the textile covering is a layer of hard plastic to protect your MacBook from impacts.

"Inside SuitCase is a soft layer of microfiber to protect the surface of your Mac. Dual zippers keep SuitCase securely closed, while making it easy to safely charge your MacBook while keeping inside this cool grey cocoon".

The lush description continues, noting that you have the "protection of a case and the convenience of a shell".

The company paints a picture for us, stating that "When you take a seat at your favorite coffee shop or workstation, you can work on yourMacBook without removing it from SuitCase.

"The innovative suspension system holds SuitCase securely against your notebook without interfering with your MacBook’s beautiful display. Working with your MacBook in a case is one more way to keep it looking shiny and new so you can cash in when it’s time to trade in".

It also helps you to "rethink what you really need for a meeting", given that it is billed as "the carry-on for everyday life".

After all, with the all-day battery life that Macs are renewed for, "why lug your backpack or bulky computer bag to a two hour meeting when all you really need is your MacBook? Slip some paperwork and your Lightning Cable Into SuitCase and go light".

Well, it's a great sales pitch and tells you all you need to know!

The SuitCase for Macbook comes in two sizes - one for the 13-inch models and the other for 16-inch MacBooks.

Both are available for AUD $119.95 and are available now, with free shipping from the Twelve South Australia site.
