tvOS 15.5 and watchOS 8.6 updates focus on security

tvOS 15.5 and watchOS 8.6 updates focus on security Apple

Where iOS 15.5, iPadOS 15.5, and macOS 12.4 delivered some new features, tvOS 15.5 and watchOS 8.6 are more like macOS 11.6.6 and Security Update 2022-004 Catalina inasmuch as they only provide unspecified bug fixes and security updates.

But tvOS 15.5 does contain 20 security updates – including issues that might be exploited to execute arbitrary code, in several cases with kernel privileges – so there's no excuse for failing to promptly update your Apple TV 4K, Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) or Apple TV HD.

Much same goes for watchOS 8.6 (for Apple Watch Series 3 and later), even though it includes slightly fewer security fixes.

One change is that the Apple Watch's ECG function is now available in Mexico.

Apple makes no mention of any security issues addressed by HomePod Software 15.5, referring only to "general performance and stability improvements."
