Meredot. The company is the developer of wireless fuelling recharge stations for e-scooters, and it has announced the release of its first commercial products.
These innovative new wireless fuelling stations have been selected by the European Innovation Centre to represent the best of technology innovations at CES 2022, European Innovation Center, Booth 50524.
Meredot describes itself as "a mobility B2B infrastructure company for e-scooter operators that offers next-generation, electric fuelling stations to not only charge e-scooters wirelessly, over-the-air, but also to help cities thrive by resolving efficiency, environmental and safety issues while maximising the benefits of micro-mobility.

We're told this EU startup Meredot contributes to the progress of micro-mobility by helping scooter operators keep batteries continuously charged whenever parked on an in-ground wireless charger, and to rebalance the fleet in a timely manner, which the company points out "significantly cuts costs on collecting, recharging and fleet deployment, while ensuring individual scooters are always ready for a new ride."
In 2019, Meredot was awarded what it describes as "a prestigious grant" for its innovative MePower wireless charging technology, which is the underlying component the wireless fuelling station is based on.
Meredot explains its wireless charging stations for its micro-mobility transport solutions improve the convenience of charging by removing the necessity of plugging the e-scooter or its battery in and out of a charging connection.
Over the last six months, the company notes it grew from developing a successful laboratory prototype to the construction of a commercial version of its wireless charging station for Bird, Lime, Bolt and other popular e-scooter operators, and that charging an electric scooter starts automatically when a scooter equipped with a receiver pad parks over a ground assembly pad.
A wireless fuelling station can be placed above the asphalt or completely hidden under the asphalt, while enabling charging of the e-scooter at the same speed as with wired chargers, while the efficiency of the wireless charging system over a 150-mm ground clearance is 96%.
Meredot describes the features:
- Park-and-charge: Is the e-scooter not perfectly placed on the wireless charger? No sweat! Innovative position allowance technology corrects and compensates for parking misalignment.
- One single design: 6-15cm Z height. Every e-scooter, regardless of ride height, will be interoperable with a common wireless charging ground pad.
- Powers through materials: Surface or in-ground placement. Asphalt, cement, ice, snow present no problem to successful and fast wireless charging.
- Smart and safe: FOD (Foreign Object Detection), LOD (Live Object Detection) and PD (Position Detection) offer advanced protection and ease of use.
So, how does it work?
The Meredot system has two parts: a wireless Charging Station (Control Panel and Parking Pad) installed at a public place or at a workplace, and an E-Scooter Adapter which is installed seamlessly on your electric scooter.
The station can be scaled to fit a variety of e-scooter types and sizes. Wirelessly transmission of energy from the Parking Pad is sent to an e-scooter with either a future native wireless charging system or to e-scooters upgraded with the e-scooter adapter for wireless charging. With the e-scooter adapter, there is almost no change in an e-scooter’s ground clearance. E-scooter wireless charging adapters are installed by Meredot’s dealer or a local certified Meredot installer at no cost to e-scooter owners.
Technical Parameters:
- Up to 20 multiple e-scooters can be charging simultaneously on a station
- Charging Pad Dimensions: 60 mm x 1200 mm x 420 mm
- Charging Pad Approximate Weight: 20 kg
- High power transfer rates up to 2,000 W
- Ground Clearance: up to 150 mm
- Foreign Object Detection, Living Object Detection, Position Detection
- Operating Temperature: –22° to 122°F (–30° to 50°C)
The Charging station converts electric power into magnetic energy and transmits it upward through the air while an e-scooter is parked over it. It is made for indoor and outdoor use. The charging station can be adapted through the replacement of the unit (internally) for regional electricity requirements and standards.
