Logi Dock adds ports and a speakerphone to notebooks

By

Logitech's Logi Dock is an all-in-one docking station incorporating meeting controls and a speakerphone, intended for use with Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.

The arrival of USB-C brought renewed interest in notebook docking stations, as they provide a way to connect multiple peripherals and a power source though just one port.

Logi Dock goes a step further and adds controls and a speakerphone supporting the popular videoconferencing systems – just right for today's work-from-home world.

It provides three USB-C ports (one 7.5W and two 4.5W), two USB-A ports (one 7.5W and one 4.5W), one HDMI port and one DisplayPort (both supporting 4K HDR video at 60Hz), and up to 100W charging for the connected computer.

Logi Dock integrates with the company's Logi Tune app, which in turn integrates with the user's calendar to provide lighting cues to indicate when a meeting is about to start. It also has buttons to join a call, mute the audio, turn the camera on/off, and end calls.

When the built-in noise-canceling speakerphone isn't appropriate, the user can switch to a Zone Wireless headset or Zone true wireless earbuds. When calls aren't in progress, the Logi Dock's speaker can be used to play music or other audio content.

"When the pandemic hit, we spent an incredible amount of time with our end users to understand their needs and pain points in a work-from-home world. The result was Logi Dock," said Logitech Video Collaboration general manager and vice president Scott Wharton.

"This is a disruptive, simple, and modern docking solution along with key collaboration features like one-touch-to-join and better mute control. And not insignificantly, it turns our cluttered 'rats nest' of cabling into the elegant workspace we all aspire to have."

Logi Dock will be available from December 2021. It will come in grey or white, but the Microsoft Teams version will only come in grey. Logitech expects the product will be certified to work with the leading video conferencing platforms.

It will work with Windows, macOS and Chrome devices with USB-C Alt Mode, and is compatible with iOS and Android devices via Bluetooth.

Prices have yet to be announced.
