TPG Telecom and Vodafone, two firms that merged last year, have both started offering 5G home Internet plans, in what is a welcome development for those stuck on the NBN.

Vodafone has two plans: a premium plan for $75 per month with unlimited data and speeds of upto 100Mbps. Mobile customers will get the plan for $70.

The ultimate plan, at $85 per month or $80 for Vodafone mobile customers, offers unlimited data with no speed cap.

Both plans can be used for a month free to road test the products until 31 January 2022; those who are not satisfied can cancel and will have to return their modems within 30 days of cancellation.

TPG offers unlimited data for $69.99 with speeds up to 100Mbps. Again, there is no lock-in and one can cancel within the first month and return the modem with 21 days of cancellation.

Like Vodafone, TPG has a faster plan for $79.99 per month with unlimited data and no speed cap.

Neither company has mentioned upload speeds.

Those interested in exploring these options can go to the companies' respective sites and see if they can get coverage where they live.

Optus and Telstra have been offering 5G home Internet plans for some time.
