Soprano hits a high note with Spanish acquisition Featured

Australian messaging company Soprano Design has acquired Spanish mobile messaging solutions vendor SITmobile in a deal which gives Soprano an instant footprint in the South American market.

The terms of the transaction have not been released, but SITmobile has a market presence in Spain, Brazil, Colombia and Chile and the deal gives Soprano new markets for its Mobile Enterprise Messaging Suite (MEMS) and the secure mobile messaging application Soprano Gamma, which was launched earlier this month, as reported by iTWire.

Under the deal, the SITmobile messaging platform will be made available to Soprano customers to deliver rich multi-channel marketing campaigns, escalation management, emergency communications and business process automation.

Integration of Soprano and SITmobile will be completed by the end of June next year, with the company headquarters remaining in Sydney.

Enric Solé, co-founder of SITmobile together with Marc Bonavia, will become the Vice President, LATAM, Soprano Design, to continue to grow markets in South America, while Marc Bonavia will become the Vice President, Europe, Soprano Design, to further grow and integrate SITmobile with Soprano across Europe.

“This acquisition caps off an incredible week for Soprano Design,” said Dr. Richard Favero, Executive Chairman and Founder of Soprano Design.

“Not only are we celebrating our 20th anniversary, we’ve doubled the size of our company and now are the largest enterprise mobile messaging software company selling to mobile network operators globally.”

Dr Favero said Soprano has developed a very successful business model in helping the enterprise and government customers of mobile network operators (MNOs) leverage the benefits of mobile communication. “With our multi-media, multi-channel and highly secure software modules for MNOs we are able to rapidly deliver messaging solutions with the features required by Fortune 500 organisations.”

“The integration with SITmobile lets us rapidly expand our geographic footprint while simultaneously adding products that are focused on delivering and tracking marketing and emergency communications.

“Soprano has been a long term and globally recognised innovator of enterprise messaging solutions. By bringing together these fantastic Soprano and SITmobile teams, who operate in the most dynamic markets in the world, our innovation capability is dramatically enhanced.”

According to Dr Favero, the integration with ITmobile significantly improves Soprano’s operational metrics, with the Soprano group enterprise message volume to exceed one billion annually.

Enric Solé said the deal with Soprano allows SITmobile to take its technology and expertise, developed in the Spanish and South American markets, to the UK, US, Northern Europe, Asian and Australian markets.
