Optus tempts cost-conscious small businesses with big multi-service discounts Featured

By

Optus is again ramping up services to the small business sector, with the release on Tuesday of new plans offering up to 20% discounts on fees to customers who connect to two or more selected business post-paid plans.

The telco, which says it is making it easier for small business customers to save money on plan costs, has also added a range of extras within its My Plan Business and Mobile Broadband business plans to tempt customers.

The Optus SMB ‘multi-service discount” is available to new and existing business customers who connect two or more new eligible services, as the telco puts pressure on its main rivals Telstra and Vodafone to increase its marketshare in the small business sector.

The multi-service discounts start at a 5% plan fee discount for two new eligible services, 10% plan fee discount for three new eligible services, 15% plan fee discount for four to nine new eligible services and a maximum of 20% plan fee discount for customers with 10 or more new eligible services.

And, Optus My Plan Business starts at $45 per month (minimum cost over 24 months $1080) and ranges up to $125 per month (minimum cost over 24 months $3000).

Matthew Ball, head of Optus SMB, says small businesses are looking for a telco provider that delivers “great mobile and broadband plans, excellent value-adds and easy ways to reduce their telco costs”.

“So we are sweetening our plans for small to medium business operators by delivering fantastic tiered discounts that reward customers who connect multiple services.”

According to Ball, small to medium business customers are telling Optus that they often have several products and plans across their business and are “keen to be rewarded for that”.

“We also know they’re after plans that offer extra value for when they do business with overseas clients. That’s why, on selected plans, we’ve added unlimited standard international calls to 10 selected countries from Australia and unlimited international calls and SMS when roaming in selected countries.”

With the new offerings to small business, Optus is consolidating all mobile and mobile broadband services into one monthly bill and providing businesses with access to a “shared pool” of data for their eligible services.

Ball says Optus is continuing to ramp up its specific small to medium business offerings and has also announced Optus Business Care which allows SMB customers access to 24/7 live chat online for sales enquiries, My Business Fast Lane which provides access to fast tracked support for eligible business mobile customers via a separate call queue, and on the $125/m My Plan Business (minimum cost over 24 months $3000), Optus Premium Support which provides a customer with their own dedicated customer support team.

And, recently Optus also announced it had completed the roll-out of 126 small business specialist stores across its existing retail footprint, a dedicated Adelaide-based SMB call centre team, and received a Canstar Blue customer satisfaction award an award as Small Business Mobile Phone Provider of the Year.
