Optus moves ahead with 5G rollout, releases new Samsung, Oppo plans Featured

Optus continues the national rollout of its 5G network and has boosted its 5G plans on offer, announcing the availability of Samsung Galaxy S10 and Oppo Reno 5G handsets, as it prepares to reveal further plans for the rollout in coming weeks.

Optus Head of Product, Shawn Van Graan, said “Optus is excited to be offering the latest high-performance smartphones that will be 5G-capable mobile phones on some of the most competitive plans in market”.

“Optus continues to focus on rolling out its 5G network with close to 200 mobile sites live. We will make further announcements on our 5G mobile plans coming weeks.”

“Recently awarded the 2019 Phone on a Plan, Provider of the Year by Canstar Blue, Optus customers have access to exclusive content such as every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match live on Optus Sport.

“Customers on selected Optus plans can now also spend time streaming more than 50 million songs anytime with Optus offering Apple Music for up to 12-months free.”

Under the new plans announced on Monday, Optus is offering the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G 256GB on the 36 month My Plan Plus plan for $110 per month (includes $85 My Plan Plus + $25 handset repayment) with 80GB + 20GB bonus of included monthly data (min. total cost $3,960 over 36 months).

And the Oppo Reno 5G 256GB will be available from Optus on the 36 month My Plan Plus plan for $90 per month (includes $85 My Plan Plus + $5 handset repayment) with 80GB + 20GB bonus of included monthly data (min. total cost $3,240 over 36 months).

Optus says its My Plan Plus plans of $85 and above offer the following monthly inclusions:

  • Unlimited standard national talk and text (to standard Australian mobiles and landlines, 13/1300 numbers and voicemail, and standard national SMS and MMS)
  • Unlimited standard international calls and messages to 35 selected destinations
  • Up to 200GB of monthly data, which can be shared between eligible Optus mobile plans on the same bill with Optus Data Pool
  • Access to Optus Sport - the home of elite European football, which provides customers with live and on demand content, along with expert analysis and highlights. Catch all the action as it happens with every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match live, plus the UEFA Nations League, UEFA Europa League and European Qualifiers
  • More than 50 million songs with a 12-month free Apple Music trial subscription (data charges apply)
