The HPE Open RAN Solution Stack includes HPE's orchestration and automation software, RAN specific infrastructure blueprints and telco optimised infrastructure, running on the new HPE ProLiant DL110 Gen10 Plus server which has been optimised for Open RAN workloads.

Developed by HPE's newly formed communications technology group (CTG), the stack shares an orchestration platform with the HPE 5G Core Stack, easing deployments from the telco core to the edge.

5G's open standards allow network operators to mix and match hardware and software from multiple vendors instead of relying on proprietary single vendor systems.

This also allows 5G networks to be built on industry standard IT hardware running virtualised networks, and HPE is contributing to the O-RAN Alliance and the Telecom Infra Project (TIP).

The HPE Open RAN Solution Stack was designed to support RAN workloads and allow customers to adopt multivendor technologies.

Innovations include intent-based orchestration and AI/ML based automation solutions, enabling the management of thousands of virtual machines, and hundreds of different virtual network functions and containerised network functions across an entire network.

Furthermore, HPE's telco infrastructure blueprints reduce risk and complexity, and increase the speed of deployment, while accommodating software from multiple vendors.

The HPE ProLiant DL110 Gen10 Plus is optimised for vRAN workloads, and features an open, standards-based architecture; 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors for performance with low power consumption; NEBS Level 3 and GR 3108 ruggedness; a reduced footprint (short-depth 1U/1P); and optional accelerators.

The HPE ProLiant DL110 Gen10 Plus server will be available in the second quarter of 2021.
