Home Telecoms & NBN Amaysim boosts speed of its standard broadband plan, gives upgrades 'at no extra cost'

It seems an epidemic of NBN providers, including Amaysim, are upgrading users to faster plans these days, and given the vast amounts of data we all seem to wish to consume simultaneously, the upgrades are most welcome.

In its pricing pages, Amaysim makes no reference to the actual speed you're supposed to be getting with each of its plans, preferring instead to state that the plans are all unlimited.

Even Amaysim's critical information summaries do not offer any detail on the cost.

That said, we can infer from the names of each plan what the speeds are likely to be, with the Basic plan at $40 per month presumably a 12Mbps plan, the Standard plus presumed to have gone from 25Mbps to the new Standard Plus speed plan at $70 per month at 50Mbps, with the $90 premium speed plan presumed to be the 100Mbps plan – and Amaysim will no doubt confirm to me if this is wrong, but I doubt it.

This news actually arrived last week, but as I have been overseas at a tech conference, I just couldn't get everything I needed to get done finished and out of the way – perhaps I need to get a boost from Standard to Standard Plus in my own life activated.

Amaysim tells us its "standard plus speed plan has replaced the standard speed plan and is available for just $70 per month. Featuring unlimited data and no lock-in contracts, it’s one of the most competitive offers in its tier in the market. The new addition is ideal for households with up to four people, who enjoy watching HD video, streaming music or online gaming".

Now, unlike some companies that introduce new products to consumers but don't let them upgrade, Amaysim says, "ensuring existing standard speed customers can experience the new standard plus speed plan, Amaysim is progressively offering to upgrade them to the faster tier at no extra cost through to the end of June. As per all its plans across mobile, broadband and energy, Amaysim’s no lock-in contracts enable customers to go hassle free when picking a plan that’s right for them and allow them to switch between plans depending on their needs".

Rob Appel, commercial director for Broadband at Amaysim, said the new plan "comes off the back of increased customer demand, backed by recent figures revealed by NBN Co which predict 1.1 million users will move onto the NBN50 speed tier by June".

Appel continued: “We’re excited to add our new standard plus speed product to our home internet portfolio. Customer needs are changing and amaysim is listening. More data-hungry content faster is the call out and these plans are designed to deliver. Great value coupled with a seamless user experience is how amaysim simplifies your home.”

Amaysim’s suite of amazingly simple home Internet plans are now also available to local communities across WA, QLD, NSW, VIC and SA, thanks to a recent partnership with Australia’s first fibre-to-the-home operator, LBNCo.

“Amaysim is excited to work with LBNCo to ensure more homes across Australia have access to best-in- class service and faster internet speeds. As always, Amaysim is delivering great value and no lock-in contracts, enabling customers to stay flexible without sacrificing on service.”

Amaysim says its broadband plans "feature basic speed, standard plus speed and premium speed for monthly $60 (current promo pricing is $40 until 18 April), $70 and $90 respectively".
