Home Telecoms & NBN VIDEOS: Boost Mobile boosts offer with double data up to 24GB for summer

I've been waiting for Boost Mobile to make its response to all its competitors, most of whom are MVNOs, including its Telstra-owned "Belong" bedfellow, and that day has finally come, today.

It's 31 October, and the start of a new range of "summer" plans from Telstra's other value and youth-oriented telco, Boost Mobile.

Billing itself as "Australia’s favourite prepaid provider", which reminds me of the days when OzEmail billed itself as Australia's favourite ISP, Boost's new "Anytime Plus mobile plans" will ensure its customers "get more of what they want with a double data offer up to 24GB".

Boost Mobile says its customers "won’t want summer to end with Double Data fuelling anytime music streaming, anytime videos and anytime social".

The company says its deal gives "data seekers an offer they can’t refuse: new customers will get double data on their first two recharges on plans including and upward of $30 if they activate their SIM between 31st October to 6th February 2018".

Jason Haynes, the general manager of Boost Mobile, said: "We know Boost Mobile customers want more data, more speed, all on a great network. The team at Boost are excited to be launching this new offer for customers considering a new option in pre-paid.

"The offer ticks all the boxes and is exactly what many of our targeted audience have been asking for. More data, More coverage, More Speed, No Lock in contracts, Data Rollover and much more."

Speaking to its base, the company says its customers "live action-packed lives, they want the ability to share and communicate with their, friends, followers and loved ones, anywhere at anytime, so having plenty of data is essential.

"The new Boost Mobile Double data offer and refreshed anytime plans, along with the introduction of the new $20 recharge aligns to our customers need to ensure they have the ultimate summer this year and beyond”, said Jason, taking off to new data-driven heights of mobility in his Haynes-plane.

Here's the first new video, the article continues thereafter:

So, what is this new $20 recharge option?

The company says its new $20 recharge "offers customers unlimited calls and texts, and 1GB of data with a 28-day expiry. Joining Boost Mobile’s current fleet of plans, this new price point gives customers more options to choose a plan that will suit their daily needs".

On top of that, "Boost Mobile has also introduced data rollover for unused data on $30+ recharges. Snapchat fiends keen on capturing every action-packed moment will be stoked to discover greater data inclusions on $40+ recharges, with Boost Mobile increasing data inclusions by 3GB from its previous plans".

And have there been any improvements to the option add-ons?

Yes! Boost says you can "talk to your travelling friends with Boost Mobile’s new $15-Add-on, which includes unlimited calls and text from Australia to standard international numbers across 10 countries".

So, when do you have to double down on the double data offer so you're not double crossed by the deal's eventual ending?

Boost says its "Double Data offer is only available to new customers who activate and recharge a Boost SIM from Tuesday 31st October 2017 to 6th February 2018. For $30+ recharges, unused data expires unless you recharge $30+ before expiry. Any unused data will then roll over and expire at the end of the next 28-day period".

We're also told that "new customers can enjoy Boost Anytime when activating a Boost Handset or SIM, whilst existing customers can switch to the new offer as per current Change Offer process".

Obviously, with "more data, more coverage and more choice", Boost Mobile believes it "the perfect summer companion", but we're sure Belong, Vaya, Kogan Mobile, Amaysim and all the rest naturally believe otherwise, and who knows, with companies like Vaya and Kogan so ultra-competitive, they may well have something to say about that.

In addition, to stay competitive, Boost Mobile will need something new on 7 February 2018, but I'm sure we'll hear more about that when the time comes.

Availability:

Boost Mobile pre-paid offers will be available from 31 October online at Boost Mobile, or at one of 12,000 retail outlets Australia wide including AusPost, BigW, Coles, JB HiFi, Kmart, Target, 7 Eleven and Woolworths.
