Microsoft Works going free online poses dilemma

Mindful of the looming threat posed by Google's growing stable of free online office productivity tools, Microsoft is considering putting its own low-end desktop applications online. However, moving to a free software model poses serious problems for the paid desktop software king.

Microsoft critical VML flaw extends to Outlook 2003

A critical vulnerability in Microsoft's VML (vector markup language) used to produce graphics, that was at first thought to affect only the Internet Explorer browser and Office 2007, which use VML tags, has been found to also affect the Outlook 2003 email client.

Vista release will not be delayed says McAfee

Number two security software vendor McAfee is holding discussions with Microsoft over “simple changes” to Windows Vista and believes that the operating system release will not be delayed.
