Westpac CIO steps aside

Westpac has announced that its high profile chief information officer Bob McKinnon is stepping back from his full time group executive role and will no longer be the bank's chief information officer. The news comes less than a fortnight after the bank took steps to axe 188 IT positions as part of a major shakeup.

ANZ's tech chief told to cut costs

Alastair Currie, the recently installed group chief operating officer, who has overall responsibility for technology at the ANZ Bank, has been given a clear mandate to cut costs, despite the bank today reporting a 12 per cent increase in underlying profits to $5.65 billion for the year to the end of September.
