Government hails success of Sydney Startup Hub

The New South Wales Government claims the Sydney Startup Hub has entrenched NSW’s reputation as the nation’s “leader in innovation” with more than $280 million in investment generated and over 1000 jobs created in its first two years.

The NSW Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said “over 40% of Australia’s startups are conceived in NSW and the Hub has helped establish Sydney as a startup leader in the Asia Pacific region”.

“With nearly 500 startups and more than 1500 events conducted to date, the Sydney Startup Hub has become the place to be for startups in Australia”.

“The Sydney Startup Hub was an excellent example of the NSW Government investing in the jobs of the future.”

Minister Ayres said the Hub’s Regional Landing Pad had also provided a valuable connection for those outside Sydney with regional entrepreneurs hosting more than 2600 bookings over the past 24 months.

Bede Moore, Managing Partner of Antler Australia - Sydney’s newest accelerator program running out of Tank Steam Labs, - said: “The SSH is a great place for any ambitious person to meet and work with like-minded people and build the next wave of tech startups.

“We are delighted to be part of this successful NSW Government initiative and congratulate everyone on the SSH team for reaching this important milestone.”

Sam Zheng, CEO/Co-Founder of AIphone interviewer startup Curious Thing, which is located in The Studio’s incubator, said: "Community plays a critical role in a startups’ success.

“The past one and half years of this journey has been incredible and have received a huge amount of assistance from The Studio and wider Sydney Startup Hub community.
