Mastering your university degree – let your experience count and learn by doing

This innovative Australian first from Deakin University allows you to earn a master’s degree in Leadership or IT Leadership by using your existing industry skills and knowledge to earn a valuable qualification and help further your career.

If you're already working and have significant experience within your industry, it may be difficult to gain a degree when balancing a busy home and professional life.

There is no question that the right degree can help you accelerate your career and earnings even faster.

Now you can apply the experience, skills and knowledge you've gained, earned and learned in your workplace and career, receiving formal recognition for it all in Deakin University's online professional practice master's degrees – in a fraction of the time a regular degree would take.

This is a new kind of master's degree, where your experience counts, and you learn in practice, challenging old traditions as you learn through reflection and application to create immediate impact. Throughout the program, you will undertake three units and 10 Professional Practice credentials, where you demonstrate the capabilities you have already acquired in the workplace. You will also gather evidence and complete a series of short reflective style essays and video testimonies.

Currently, there are two master’s degrees available within this Professional Practice style. These courses cater to busy and accomplished professionals and can be accomplished 100% online within a year at a minimum:

In both programs, students use their industry skills and knowledge to earn a qualification that will help them reach the next level in their careers.

Intakes each year are during March, July and November.
