Centrify launches ‘industry first’ cloud-based privileged identity service

Unified identity manager vendor Centrify has launched what it says is the industry’s first cloud-based identity management solution, Centrify Privilege Service (CPS) to provide security, visibility and control of privileged accounts.

Centrify CEO and founder Tom Kemp said identity and privileged accounts were at the centre of today’s ever-growing string of cyber-attacks, , it’s no surprise that privileged accounts are top targets for hackers and malicious insiders alike.

“Centrify’s modern approach to managing and securing privileged accounts is in stark contrast to legacy privileged identity management software offerings that fail to address increasingly hybrid IT environments of on-premises and cloud-based systems.

“These products also fail to secure and manage third-party access and utilise cumbersome on-premises architectures that require expensive perpetual license purchases and months of professional services.  Analysts have been asking when the privileged identity management market will be disrupted by the cloud, and we believe CPS is the answer.”

Centrify launched the new service while conducting briefings on CPS at the RSA security conference taking place at San Francisco’s Moscone Centre.

Kemp says CPS extends the identity consolidation, privilege management and privileged session auditing capabilities found in the flagship Centrify Server Suite by providing shared account password management for servers, network devices and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS).

In addition, he says CPS addresses security and audit requirements for managing both cloud-based and on-premises access to critical production systems and applications by remote employees and third parties ― “all without the hassle of a VPN”.

Kemp also said that CPS is delivered as a modern, multi-tenant cloud service, available in 15 languages from 10 data centres across the world and with rich support for mobile devices.  “CPS is built on the proven Centrify Identity Platform, which powers the Centrify Identity Service, the industry’s first entirely cloud-based solution for integrated identity, mobility and Mac management”.

CPS will be generally available in May, with Centrify’s US pricing at $50 per privileged user per month, and with volume and education pricing available.

Local Australian pricing will be announced prior to release.

Now’s the Time for 400G Migration

The optical fibre community is anxiously awaiting the benefits that 400G capacity per wavelength will bring to existing and future fibre optic networks.

Nearly every business wants to leverage the latest in digital offerings to remain competitive in their respective markets and to provide support for fast and ever-increasing demands for data capacity. 400G is the answer.

Initial challenges are associated with supporting such project and upgrades to fulfil the promise of higher-capacity transport.

The foundation of optical networking infrastructure includes coherent optical transceivers and digital signal processing (DSP), mux/demux, ROADM, and optical amplifiers, all of which must be able to support 400G capacity.

With today’s proprietary power-hungry and high cost transceivers and DSP, how is migration to 400G networks going to be a viable option?

PacketLight's next-generation standardised solutions may be the answer. Click below to read the full article.
