Whigham heads HDS government sales

By

Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has appointed Tony Whigham as ANZ government sales director.

"Government agencies face unique challenges and opportunities around digital transformation. Tony brings a wealth of relevant experience to the role to guide departments through the digital transition process, with the aim to deliver even better services to citizens," said HDS ANZ vice-president and general manager, Nathan McGregor.

"He is also passionate about educating the market on the possibilities for enhanced public safety, innovation and collaboration that arise from the internet of things."

Whigham joins HDS from HPE subsidiary Aruba Networks, where he served as director of federal government business.

He previously managed Teradata's business with the Department of Human Services, worked as director of SingTel Optus's government business, and held senior sales roles at Dimension Data.

Whigham studied at the University of Canberra and the Macquarie University Graduate School of Business.

"In Australia and New Zealand, government agencies have been quick to realise the benefits of delivering services digitally. But with some of the region's largest data centres and IT legacy systems, the public sector also faces unique challenges due to the size and complexity of digital transformation projects," said Whigham.

"I'm thrilled to join Hitachi Data Systems to support CIOs on their journey with a data-centric strategy and solutions set, and also leverage the synergies with Hitachi Ltd, one of the largest and most ethical technology companies in the world."
