The board of the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) has appointed a new independent director to replace retiring, long-serving director Jane Harvey..

TIO Board Chair Patricia Faulkner announced today that Geoff Nicholson will join as an Independent Director in February, after a recruitment process that began in late 2015.

“Geoff brings with him a wealth of experience as a non-executive company director and will assume the role of Independent Director with Commercial Governance Experience on the TIO Board.

“I welcome Geoff as a new member of the Board of TIO Limited, and thank Jane Harvey for her long and dedicated service to the TIO.”

Nicholson had a successful career as a finance professional, having held senior roles with OTC, Telstra, Foxtel and AusNet Services for many years. Since leaving AusNet Services in 2013, he has been a member of a number of boards, including not-for-profits such as Launch Housing, where he is Deputy Chair, and Hanover Welfare Services, where he served as Chair.

He is also a Director of United Energy, Marchment Hill Consulting and Athletics Australia.

Faulkner also announced the re-appointments of Paul Harrison and Jules Scarlett, as Directors with consumer and industry experience respectively.

The Board of TIO is chaired by an independent Director and comprises a balanced mix of Directors with industry and consumer experience, an Independent Director with not-for-profit and an Independent Director commercial governance experience.
