Sydney-based fintech hub Stone & Chalk has appointed former BT Financial Group executive Marie-Anne Lampotang as general manager for its Sydney business.

In her new role Lampotang will be responsible for the end-to-end start-up community experience and operations at the Sydney hub.

“Being able to tempt a senior financial service executive with Marie-Anne’s experience is a big coup for Stone & Chalk. She brings with her incredible operations experience as well as expert knowledge of super and wealth industries, and an unparalleled network of industry connections,” said Stone & Chalk chief executive Alex Scandurra.

“Marie-Anne’s appointment comes at an exciting time for Stone & Chalk’s history – following our move to the Sydney Start-up Hub. We have grown our resident base significantly, while simultaneously gearing up our expansion into the Goods Shed in Melbourne’s Docklands precinct. Marie-Anne will play a pivotal role in helping us take our operations to the next level in Sydney.”

Lampotang said, “I’m thrilled to be joining Stone & Chalk and I’m looking forward to making my contribution to growing a world class fintech ecosystem here in Australia.”

"Having been involved in small business myself, I can certainly relate to what it is like being a founder. I’m excited to be rediscovering my inner entrepreneur and leveraging my 20 years in professional and financial services to help our residents grow from small businesses to global leaders.

“I am also excited for the opportunity to be a champion for the super and wealth sector at Stone & Chalk. There is a lot of money in super, $2.6 trillion, and this presents a huge opportunity for startups who want to help engage customers in that space.”
