Snowflake picks Australia for senior regional staff

Cloud-based data warehouse provider Snowflake Computing has made two senior regional appointments in Australia, and opened offices in Sydney and Melbourne.

Peter O'Connor has been appointed vice-president of sales for Asia Pacific, and Alan Eldridge has joined the company as Asia Pacific director of sales engineering.

"The combined experience which Peter and Alan bring to Snowflake in the Asia Pacific region will be crucial to accelerating our market presence in the data sharing economy," said chief revenue officer Chris Degnan.

"Their knowledge of deploying successful, go-to-market strategies and providing customers with the solutions and support they need, will enable organisations to gain all the insight from all their data in order to become data-driven enterprises."

O'Connor is based in Sydney and is charged with leading the management and expansion of Snowflake's Asia Pacific business.

He was most recently Asia Pacific vice-president at Nimble Storage, and previously served as NetApp Australia's vice-president and managing director, and as Asia Pacific vice-president at Macromedia.

Eldridge is based in Melbourne with responsibility for leading the company's regional pre-sales team.

He joins Snowflake from Tableau Software, where he was the company's first employee in the region and most recently held the role of ANZ presales manager.

Prior to Tableau, he held a variety of technical sales roles at Microsoft, Business Objects and Sun Microsystems after serving in the Australian Army in IT postings.
