Geoscape picks Capobianco as CEO

By

Government-owned geospatial data company Geoscape Australia has appointed Dean Capobianco as its CEO.

"Dean is a commercially astute and execution-oriented business leader. He has successfully built, scaled and transformed businesses in Australia and the Asia Pacific region," said Geoscape Australia chair Lynne Robinson.

"Dean's capabilities and leadership style are a very close match to what we were seeking in our new CEO. He is immensely positive and energetic, with a real knack for bringing out the best in people. We know he'll have a big impact on the business."

Former Olympic athlete Capobianco also serves as a non-executive director of Provider Choice, a director of The Trading Desk, and is an advisor to Karlsgate and LiveHire.

He previously held senior roles at LiveRamp (formerly Acxiom), China Search International, CareerOne, NineMSN, Overture, and News Interactive.

"The geospatial industry continues to evolve with the constant search for new data sources, tools and solutions, and I'm excited to lead Geoscape into its next phase of growth and innovation," said Capobianco.

"Helping governments, industries and organisations make critical decisions, transform their businesses and deliver improved products and services is important for the future of all Australians."

Capobianco studied business administration at the University of Technology Sydney, and co-founded an indigenous youth sports program designed to create opportunities for aspiring young talent.
