Listed telco 5G Networks has beefed up its senior management team with two former Telstra executives — Glenn Flower and Vishal Patelas — joining its ranks.

Flower joins 5G Networks (ASX:5GN) as the company’s new chief marketing officer and Patelas takes up the position of national networks manager.

Flower was head of Marketing and Communications at Telstra Wholesale for a number of years and will join 5G Networks’ executive team to lead both the company’s marketing and product functions.

Joe Demase, 5G Networks managing director, said Flower had previously led the launch strategy for Telstra’s Cloud services and managed the integrated IP network product portfolio for Telstra Enterprise and Government for several years.

“A respected executive for driving innovation and digitisation, Glenn has recently transformed the marketing function and optimised the digital assets at Telstra Wholesale with impressive results for driving revenue opportunities,” Demase said.

“We are extremely excited about an experienced executive like Glenn joining our growing organisation.

“His expertise and experience in executive leadership and managing agile business transformation and digital technology is industry leading; not to mention his extensive background in data networks, applications and cloud technology.”

Commenting on his appointment, Flower said, “I am delighted to be joining such a thriving, dynamic organisation absolutely focused on the customer. The opportunities for uniting market leading technologies with strong networking foundations are enormous; which is great news for our current and future customers. The 5G Network business has so many assets; from hosting & cloud services to superfast networks and managed IT.”

Demase also said the company was also excited to announce the appointment of Patelas — former Telstra senior network architect — to lead its National Multiprotocol Label Switching Network.

“The addition of Vishal is also instrumental. His extensive experience and profound understanding in the telecommunications sector will provide immense value to our national MPLS Network rollout strategy.

“While adding Patel as the company’s National Networks Manager, 5G Networks continues the expansion of its capability and MPLS Network across Australia,” Demase said.

Patel brings over 15 years’ experience in the telecommunications sector across the Middle East, India and Australia at companies including Nokia.

“I am very pleased to have the calibre of Glenn and Vishal join the 5G Networks team as we expand our service proposition and bolster the company for continued growth,” Demase said.
