Citrix Online's new man in ANZ

By
Citrix Systems’ division – Citrix Online - has grabbed Gartner senior executive, Nick Smith, to head up the business for Australia and New Zealand as the company looks to continue what it says is “tremendous growth” in the Asia Pacific region.

Citrix Online managing director for Asia Pacific, H.R. Shiever, said today Smith, as Country Leader for Australia and New Zealand, would be responsible for leading the company’s growth by driving sales and expanding customer partnerships. Smith was regional vice president for ANZ at Gartner before joining Citrix Online.

Shiever said Smith’s appointment was particularly timely given Citrix Online’s tremendous growth in the region, and he said that “as businesses increasingly recognise the value that simple-to-use remote access and collaboration tools offer for enhancing productivity and ROI, we have an ideal opportunity to extend our leadership position in this market.

“With his impressive track record and experience in the region, Nick is central to our strategy of remaining the number one choice in ANZ.”

According to Smith, despite a challenging economic climate, the SaaS market has taken off considerably during 2009 and, he says, “we’ll see this trend continue, as businesses of all sizes see the value of online collaboration tools to work smarter in a challenging economic environment, provide better conditions for their employees and increase their footprint.

“Citrix Online has a huge growth opportunity and I’m tremendously enthusiastic about joining the team. The rapidly growing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) market makes this an exciting time to join Citrix Online.”
